So after doing a handfull of chapters I've come to one very obvious conclusion: 24 pages per chapter is not enough to tell everything I want to tell. There have been multiple instances where I wish I could have had just a few more pages to add a little more depth to the story, and from critique I've gotten the pacing comes off a little rushed at times.
This current episode will be 3 chapters, all 24 pages, but after that all chapters will be either 28 or 32 pages. Already the scripts are looking a lot more plump and complete, and I don't feel like I have to struggle to squish in certain details I was hoping to add at some point. This should make the world just a little more immersive and allow more exploration of the characters.
I'm very excited for where the story is going, while I enjoy this current episode it's the next one that's my favorite, and the one after that really ups the stakes for the rest of the series.

Thanks for reading, I hope you enjoy what's to come!

Sounds like a great idea. Good luck with your workload.

I mean - do you have to fit the chapters to specific page counts? Seems like you COULD just look at what you wanted to tell in a chapter, and either write it until it was done (danger of running way long), or decide how many pages you wanted to tell it in and then try to do so, or maybe like, roughly thumbnail out the whole chapter beforehand. Trying to meet a specific page count seems needlessly contrived, unless you're trying to e.g. write something for serial publication on paper.

I'm hoping to have this comic printed someday, so chapters need to be increments of 4. Also it just helps for me to have a limit and a structure. If a story needs to be longer, it'll have another chapter added. Stories can be anywhere from 1-3 chapters, 4 if it's a finale episode.
I did a lot of math to figure out how long it would take me to tell the whole of MMG and what numbers would be best to limit myself to so I'm not working on it longer than I need to. Already it's calculated at 15 years total to tell the whole 5 seasons planned.

With 28 or 32 pages as the limit, I have plenty to work with. 4 pages can add quite a lot, and so far fixing the scripts to match these numbers have given a more solid story overall.

Ok; sounds like you've got a working plan in place, then. Good luck!
