I used to collect shell fossils on the coast, my dad lived right by the beach and I'd find them all the time around his house. There are specific beaches that are more likely to get fossils in Oregon, so if you want to go fossil hunting do a little research in to which beaches are the best for it.
Also the weather here do what it want, I've seen weather like this before.

I've had the distinct pleasure of crossing Carson Pass eastward or westward in snow and sleet while the sun shines, chains on the driving wheels. I've also thoroughly enjoyed the summer squalls in the Feather River headwaters.

Sounds lovely! When I was living in Florida I loved the warm rain and thunderstorms the most, out in Oregon we don't get too many weather extremes besides lots of rain and weather that switches all over the place, thunderstorms are nothing like Florida's.

This kind of weather is the kind to get excited about, since it typically generates rainbows!

As well, it's what keeps the Pacific Coast rain- and cloud-forests doing what they've been doing for millennia.

The temperate rainforests are probably the prettiest type of forest imo
