There weren't really any creatures this chapter, so instead we have a journal entry on the Wandelaar Hotels and Blooming Brews!

The Wandelaar Hotels were inspired by Portland's McMenamins Hotels. McMenamins likes to use old buildings to make a lot of cool hotels with different themes, the one I went to when I was younger is called Kennedy School. And as the name suggests, it's an old school building that was repurposed in to a hotel with classroom themed rooms. They have multiple bars and a movie theater and a gift shop! The movie theater is really cool because rather than your typical theater chairs, they instead have lounge chairs and couches with side tables so you can order and eat pizza in the theater. When I was at this hotel, I got this really weird, uneasy feeling while walking down one of the halls. I really didn't like it, and I never really forgot it, I remember passing by the restrooms, specifically the women's restroom was where the bad feeling was coming from. I was scared to stick around in the hotel at first, but once we went to another area everything felt fine.
Years later, as an adult, I got curious and wanted to see if the hotel was haunted. Sure enough, the women's bathroom is considered a ghost hot-spot with multiple haunting reports. In fact, the McMenamin brothers seek out haunted locations to buy and repurpose! You can read more about their haunted hotels here: They're smart though, they make sure proper cleansing rituals are performed before opening to the public, just to make sure no malicious ghosts stick around. The nice ones can stay, though.

Blooming Brews meanwhile was inspired by The Spice and Tea Exchange located near the Pioneer Courthouse Square so it's hard to miss. I love loose leaf tea, and their shop has a very pleasant setup, so I wanted to make something similar to them. Though instead of spices, they sell coffee at Blooming Brews.
